Mikhail Kuraev
Novelist, the author of famous "Captain Dikshtein"

     Mikhail Kuraev was born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) in 1939 in a family of a constructor. He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography in 1961.  
     From 1961 till 1988 he worked for the Leningrad "Lenfilm" Productions in the Script Board. 
     M. Kuraevis the author of two studies on the history of cinema. His critical publications appeared in various periodicals. 
     His first novel "Captain Dikshtein" was published by "Novy Mir" in 1987. Thereafter the book was repeatedly published in Russia (5 editions), as well as in France, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Hungary, Germany and Spain. 
     His other fiction "A Little Family Secret" and "The Night Guard" were published as a separate book in France and in Germany. 
     His prose is published by leading literary magazins in Moscow "Novy Mir" and "Znamya". He is also acclaimed as literary critic, his articles are often published by Moscow magazine "Literaturnoe obozrenie" (Literary Review).
